Myriagon is a polygon with ten thousand sides. It is the kaleidoscopic collaborative practice (2015–) between Ki Nurmenniemi (curator, researcher, writer) and Tuomas A. Laitinen (artist, musician). Fusing together sonic, sculptural, and written elements, Myriagon creates performances, installations, and publications.
Myriagon investigates how language shapes worlds and ponders upon its diverse material aspects and multispecies expressions. You can listen to the Myriagon audio play, Wet Code: Atonal Atoll, on myriagon.world Our writing can be found in SCB Journal: Ecologies Lost, Found, and Continued and in ARK – Finnish Architectural Review.
Myriagon is currently doing a two-month residency at TOKAS, Tokyo Arts and Space, in September–November 2022. In Tokyo, Tuomas and Ki have been listening to the city and attuning to the ever-morphing relations between its myriad life forms. At the TOKAS open studio event, held on Nov 11th–13th, they present an ultrasonic audio piece based on recordings made during the residency, accompanied by prints of performance scores and poetry, a glass vessel, and a video work.
